          "The Family Of God"

In reading the Word today, I came across the question put to the multitude byJesus many years ago. The crowd wanted Him to know that his family was seeking him and Jesus saw this opportunity to really define HIS FAMILY. In Mark 3:35 Jesus said: "Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother." As I thought of this today, I was reminded that we can know the will of God as disclosed in the Word of God. What then is the will of God?

In part the will of God is:

     1. That we be saved.  John 3:16 "Whosoever"
     2. That we be surrendered.  Romans 6:13 "Yield youselves to God"
     3. That we be satisfied.  Phillipians  1:21 " For me to live is Christ."
     4. That we be serving.  Psalms 100:2  "Serve the Lord with gladness."

With these things in order, we can sing with confidence the words of that great (Gaither) song: "I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God." Saved, surrendered, satisfied and serving! This is the way it is supposed to be. May God help us to keep on living as the family of God.
